The “Ghostly Stroll” Halloween Parade and Harvest Festival
(Newburgh IN) The Merchant Committee of Historic Newburgh, Inc. will be hosting the annual Ghostly Stroll Halloween Parade and Trick or Treating October 24th. At 2 pm, The Walking Parade starts at Town Hall Parking Lot (library parking). The streets will be closed so the parade will proceed north on Monroe, east on Jennings, south on State Street and west on Water Street.
Kids, parents, families and pets in costume will parade around the block with the Little Old Dam Band plays the death dirge. There are over 20 categories, for example, the scariest, scariest face, cutest, cutest toddler, cutest cat, cutest dog, funniest, most creative, best group and prettiest costume. Prizes are donated by Downtown businesses. This really is great fun for the entire family. From 2:30-4:30pm, many of the Downtown Newburgh merchants encourage all the little spooks to come trick or treating.
A new twist this year is the addition of the Harvest Festival and Fall Farmers Market along with Free Family Movie Night. From 3 pm – 6 pm, at the Lou Dennis Community Park in the Town of Newburgh, you will enjoy music, food trucks, and games; as well as a Fall Farmers Market. There will be pony rides and face painting.
This all leads up to another Free Family Movie Night! Bring your family at 7 pm to watch Hocus Pocus. Thanks to FC Tucker Emge for sponsoring the WATS bus, and Karol Bryant of ERA, Livewell, Gigi’s Cupcakes and Pump It Up for sponsoring the Free Movie.
Historic Newburgh, Inc. is a non-profit, Main Street organization dedicated to the historic preservation, economic revitalization and sustainability of Downtown Newburgh.
We couldn’t pick one person, so we are roasting the ENTIRE CITY! Limited tickets available $30 per person or $50 per couple.

SANTA ARRIVES AT VHS FIRST WEEKEND IN NOVEMBER
(Evansville, IN –October 20th, 2015) The Vanderburgh Humane Society’s annual Pet Pictures with Santa event is Friday through Sunday, November 6th-8th. This year marks the 30th anniversary for this holiday tradition. We are the ORIGINAL Pet Pictures with Santa in Evansville!
Pet Pictures with Santa will take place at the VHS building located at 400 Millner Industrial Drive (2 blocks west of Bosse Field near Garvin Park). Of course, we ask that all pets be kept on a leash or in a carrier and be current on their rabies vaccination. Times are as follows:
• Friday, November 6th, Noon – 7 PM
• Saturday, November 7th, 10 AM – 5 PM
• Sunday, November 8th, Noon – 4 PM
For $25, you will receive four 4 X 6 color prints (two prints of two poses) and the digital images. Each sitting may include more than one animal, and kids and adults are also welcome to be in the photos! This is an excellent opportunity for a family Christmas card. Costumes are welcome!
Doug Fox will be donating his time and talent to take the photos, so the entire $25 fee will come to the animals of the VHS. Santa is also taking time out of his busy North Pole schedule and has volunteered to be at the VHS on all three days.
The VHS was the first in the area to introduce Pet Pictures with Santa over 30 years ago. This fundraiser averages $7,000 a year for the VHS. Typically, the three-day event has more than 300 pet owners bringing countless numbers of pets of all types. Funds raised from this event will help the VHS care for the nearly 3,000 animals that are surrendered to our facility each year, provide low cost spay/neuter services, and educate the public on important animal issues.
For more information on this event and for photo opportunities, please contact Kendall Paul or Amanda Coburn at the contact information above.
