Evansville, Ind., (Friday, August 8, 2014) –    Evansville area runners and families are about to have a colorful opportunity to support the local Ronald McDonald House – an important charity providing vital support for families from around the tri-state.

Saturday, August 30, 2014, Color Blaze 5K will be held at the Vanderburgh County 4-H Fair Center, 201 East Boonville New Harmony Rd., Evansville, IN 47725.  Registration opens at 8:00 AM and the race starts at 10:00 AM. To register online for the event visit: www.rmhevansville.org/colorblaze

Color Blaze 5K is the most outrageous 5K you will ever run. Their main focus is fun, family, and entertainment. This 5K does not get caught up in the times and speed of the participants but rather involving the whole family and friends in a relaxed non-competitive event.  It’s entertainment based, and runners/walkers are sprayed with colored starch as they go through the course to end up tie-dyed by the end of the 3 miles.  Children 10 and under are free with a registered guardian.  You will simply sign a participation waiver for your child the day of race.  You can purchase additional t-shirts for the little ones when you register.  Cost of registration is $30.00 or $40.00 day of the event- if not sold out.

The local Ronald McDonald House serves an average of 1,000 families annually with an average length of stay of eight days. The facility, on Washington Avenue next to St. Mary’s Medical Center, opened on Jan. 18, 2010.  It supports the families of children receiving medical treatment at area hospitals and medical facilities, with a primary focus on the families of neonatal, pediatric and intensive-care patients. The nonprofit was honored by the American Hospital Association in 2012 for being an exceptional partner in the delivery of health care services, a testament that RMHC is part of the continuum of care that facilitates improved outcomes for children.
